Have you ever checked your horoscope? Tried to know what is coming up soon? You want to know how things will play out in the near or foreseeable future?
The Miriam-Webster dictionary defines stargazing as the act or practice of stargazers. A stargazer is one who stares, looks steadily or intently at stars. The practice is further defined as indulgence in idle daydreaming and the quality of being absentminded. Stargazing is practiced by some as an avenue to refresh oneself or seek to see things beyond the natural sphere. God designed us to be inquisitive and to be seekers.
Horoscope is defined as: “a diagram of the relative positions of planets and signs of the zodiac at a specific time (as at one’s birth) for use by astrologers in inferring individual character and personality traits and in foretelling events of a person’s life”. The positioning of the planets created by God is used as a springboard for predicting a person’s future.
Eternity on the other hand is an infinite time. While some posit about eternity past, eternity future is generally considered more important. The Bible is also instructive in this regard as we are informed that God has put eternity in our hearts! (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
Some Implications
Some people through studying and monitoring of stars, saw the beauty and glory of Jesus the new born King (Matthew 2). They came to worship Him, honor and give Him presents. Conversely, the devil and his monitoring agents can monitor stars, and come to dishonor and steal glory, riches, health etc., because he is a thief (John 10:10).
Foretelling the future through horoscopes, occult practices and divination – collectively referred to as divination is a slippery slope. The devil strategically uses it to deceive people that they can know the future without seeking God or that they do not need to access that sensitive information from God! While God has planted the desire to know the future in our hearts, He expects us to ask Him (Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 7:7-8). God detests divination and pronounced a judgment of destruction upon stargazers and diviners (Isaiah 47:13-15). He also commanded His children not to engage in such practices (Leviticus 19:26).
Bringing It Together
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you have the Holy Spirit in you. You do not need to engage in divination or occult practices to know the future. God knows and holds the future. Your future is in His hands. Ask Him. The Holy Spirit will reveal the future to you and guide you along the best pathway for your life. He will teach you how to attain eternity in heaven. Some will spend eternity in hell – may that not be your portion in Jesus name. If you are yet to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repent of your sins, ask for forgiveness and invite Jesus to take control of your life. If you have prayed that prayer congratulations and welcome to the body of Christ.
I pray that you will be totally delivered from every work of darkness in Jesus name. Evil powers monitoring your star will be unable to harm you. Any good thing stolen from you will be returned to you sevenfold and above all you will have eternity in heaven in Jesus mighty and victorious name! Amen!!
